After we had our special christmas morning, we headed over to my parents house for some breakfast, ( I guess it was more like lunch because we didn't eat until noon) After eating, we opened up gifts, and I just have to post this video of Ethan opening his gifts. You can tell he definately prefers toys to clothes.Overall, it was a very merry Christmas, and we hope it was for everyone else too!

Christmas day
This year christmas was pretty fun. It was great seeing how Ethan reacted to santa coming in the night, filling his stocking, and leaving lots of presents under the tree. Ethan got pretty spoiled, not only by Santa, but by his grandparents too! He got a train set, elmo legos, a shopping cart with food in it, an aquadoodle, and a coloring book with special markers that only write on special paper. (woo hoo for my walls!!!!) He got a truck from grammy A that he tottally loves, and I've constantly got the song, "who let the dogs out" in my head! ( I"m sure you're laughing anita!) Rory got a couple movies, a thumb drive for his music, a book with a bunch of local bike trails, and lots of chocolate. Rory got me a sweater,a movie, a couple cds that I love, and a gift card to borders. (he know's I'm such a nerd when it comes to books!) I know I'm missing some things, but you get the idea that we had a very blessed christmas.

Christmas Eve
This year christmas eve was pretty crazy. Not only was it snowing and cold outside, but Ethan decided to have some fun on his own. When Rory and I were in the other room, Ethan managed to climb up on our kitchen counter to play with the fishes. When I came out of the room, Ethan was sitting next to the fish tank with the dish soap sitting next to him, and bubbles coming out of the fish tank. Rory and me jumped into action to take the fish out as soon as we could. They were starting to swim sideways, and was having a hard time. It took us quite a while to finally get the bubbles all cleaned out and the fish in some fresh water. The poor fish were really struggling, but after a little while, a couple snapped out of it, and we only lost one fish.
After we had a nice talk with ethan, and let him know he was in trouble, we ended up opening one gift each. I had been expecting one of Rory's gifts in the mail, and hadn't got it yet, but thought that maybe it got left on our front porch and I didn't hear the delivery guy. So I checked out side, and sure enough it was there. I didn't want to wrap it, or have to try to sneak it past Rory, so I told him that his gift to open was outside. He liked the bike rack. I opened up a cd, Ethan got a toy truck from grammy A.

Ethan's latest disaster
On Sunday night we were just relaxing at home, and enjoying a quiet evening at home. Well, Ethan was playing around in the living room, and tripped. He ended up hitting his head on the corner of a wall, and sliced it right open. We knew right away we needed to go to the hospital to get stitches. Ethan only cried for a couple minutes, then was laughing and talking to me all the way to the hospital, and in the waiting room. When we got there it was 9pm and Ethan was just being a silly boy. We got called back to the room, and Rory had to hold a cotton ball with numbing medicine on Ethans wound for like an hour, and Ethan really didn't like that. It just bugged him that he couldn't run around and explore the room. When the dr. came in and was ready to stitch it, it was almost unbearable to me as a mom. We had to wrap him up really tight in a blanket to hold his arms down, and dad held his legs, and the nurse held his head. His eyes were just wide with terror not understanding what was going on, and he just kept yelling 'momma!' 'dadda!' He was just wanting one of us to pick him up and comfort him. It was horrible! No matter what I said, I couldn't console him, and it broke my heart. I'm sure all the other moms understand my reaction. anyways, he ended up getting 5 stitches, and is healing nicely
This picture was taken in the waiting room.

My baby's growing up!
So today was officially Ethan's 2nd birthday. I can't believe that two years ago today, I was laying in a hospital bed exhausted from 12 hours of labor, and 2 hours of pushing. I can't believe he was just a tiny 8lbs, 15 oz, and 21" long. Now looking at him, it seems so long ago because now he's getting so grown up!!! Anyways, today was just a typical day with him. Didn't do anything to special because of last nights party. But he got to have his favorite dinner (mac n Cheese. go figure) and then open one last present from Rory's family. We opened it, he had some cake, and ate some of the candy grandma sent him. So here's a couple pics, of my little boy taken today.
Ethan's 2nd Birthday Party
Ethan was so silly at his birthday party. We actually celebrated a day early because we wanted Ethan's cousins to come and they couldn't today. The birthday party was a big hit with Ethan. I had been trying to pump him up about it the whole day. I don't think he really understood, but I told him his cousins were coming, as well and grandpa and grandma, and that there was going to be cake. He kept trying to say birthday party, but it really came out more like birdy potty. It's cute. After everyone got there, we ate some pizza, and then got out the cake. It was a seahawks cake and was pretty cool. Ethan's big on football. We ended up singing happy birthday to him twice because the first time, Rory ran out of batteries in the camera. So the second time we sang to him, he loved it, and he knew what to expect. But he was pointing at me, like we were singing to me. He loved the attention, and after he blew out the candles, he grabbed the lighter for me to do it again! After the cake and ice cream (which that night he only wanted ice cream) we started on the gifts. He was super spoiled and got a bunch of toys. Lots of motorbikes, and books, and he got some bath toys and a backhoe toy. We decided to save at least one gift for his real birthday today. His gift from grammy and grandpa A. After everyone left, it took a little bit for him to wind down, but he was loving all the attention and treats he got. Thanks to my family for coming, giving ethan gifts, and sharing the special day with us!

Blessings
Today I was looking through some family pictures, and felt so much love and happiness that I had to share. I am such a lucky girl. I have such a wonderful husband, who is so loving and hard working. I think I take him for granted a lot. Don't all wives and husbands? Thinking back the last couple days, I just have to smile. Yesterday when Rory got home from work, he snuck in really quiet and hid in the laundry room so I couldn't see him...then he called my phone, (which was in the laundry room too) I had a sneaky suspicion that he was in there, but just walked in singing along with the ringtone, and looked to the side where Rory was standing in the corner on top of his lunch box... I said hey baby, and that was it. He was a little disappointed that I didn't get scared, but he put a smile on my face. Today just picturing him in the corner on that small lunch box makes me laugh. He's so goofy, and I LOVE IT! I don't think very many people know the real Rory. These last few days Rory's talked me into playing Halo2 with him on the xbox. I'm not that big on war/alien games, but I have loved playing with Rory. It takes me back to carefree days when we had all the time in the world together, and didn't worry about dishes, and dirty diapers. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Ethan to death, but sometimes it's nice to just spend some time with my husband and remember back to how it all started. So Rory, if you're reading this, I love you SO much, and I hope you know just how much I appreciate all you do for me and Ethan. You are a great Father, friend, and husband and I will love you forever!

Random pics
I think these pics are pretty cute. The pics on top are silly because Ethan NEVER would take a pacifyer when he was a baby. He hated them. Just recently though, he's found an old one, and loves to suck on it. It's not a comfort thing or anything, and he doesn't care when it's taken away. But what the heck?
Below are some more bath pics. I can't resist. Ethan hates getting his hair washed, but I managed to get a smile out of him. I think it's about time for another haircut.

Our halloween Horror
Okay, so that title sounds a lot horrible than it actually was. It was a pretty fun night, except when we were getting Ethan ready, and then when we were trying to get him to wind down for bed. Then we just dealt with some over the top tantrums. It's amazing how he can throw his body around! Anyways, Ethan decided that he wanted to be a football player. We tried to get him to be a dog, and some other animals, but he kept saying 'ball' and showing me a football costume. Because I didn't want to spent $30 on a costume he probably wouldn't wear again, we bought a seahawks jersey (I know they're not doing good this year, but they're still our team!) and it's like 2 sizes to big so Ethan can wear it for a long time.
There's a picture where Rory is trying to put some pads in Ethan's Jersey. We couldn't really find anything, that would work, and rory mentioned 'old bra's' while looking around in our underwear drawer. Well, he found some old nursing pads, and they were the perfect fit! The next picture is when Rory was trying to put the black lines on Ethans face. We had to hold him down to do it!
After Ethan was all ready, I tried to get a picture of him, but he just wasn't having it. He didn't like all the attention, and us telling him he looked awesome. I tried to tell him to say cheese, and instead, I got a picture of a little football player that's about to go down in an all out tantrum.
It wasn't until we were out of the house that Ethan started behaving better. We went to our local mall, where the kids go and show off costumes, and trick or treat to all the different stores. There's also games set up along the middle, so you can win prizes, and extra candy. After the mall, we met up with grandma and papa and went to a barn party, where we ate hot dogs, played more games, got more candy, and went for a hay ride. By time we got home, Ethan was wound up soooooo much. He was just on this sugar high, and didn't know how to handle it. He just kept throwing fits. We couldn't figure out what his deal was! Hopefully next year he'll be a little more into it, and understand what's going on!

Pumpkin Carving
Here's some pics of some pumpkin carving we did on Monday night. Rory carved the big pumpkin (the howling wolves) and I carved the small pumpkin (spider & web) It was pretty fun. I haven't carved pumpkins for a long time.Probably not since living with my parents like 6 or 7 years ago. So it was nice to revert back to my childhood and be creative. Ethan wasn't too into it. I think it was to slimy. He doesn't really like touching different textures. Especially when it's wet. Maybe next year he'll be more into it.

Farm Fun
Yesterday we decided to get out of the house, and go to a little farm that's in our town. They have animals there that you can feed, and pumpkins to pick. We figured Ethan would be in heaven so we bundled up and headed out. We got there and got the food to feed the animals, and the first animal we came up to was a couple of big turkeys. Ethan kept poking his finger out, and we were worried it would get bit. We gave the turkey crackers, then headed on to the next, which was the pigs.
The pigs weren't so nice though. Ethan again put his finger in the fence, and one of the pigs bit it!!! I couldn't believe it. I didn't know pigs bite!? Anyhow, it was a little tramatizing for him, but he got over it as soon as we headed over to some other animals. We saw chickens, ducks, geese, sheep, goats, turkeys, rabits, some dogs, horses, and a mule. It was great feeding them. I think Ethan's favorite was the horses.
When we were through feeding, we got a red wagon and headed out for a pumpkin. Ethan loved the wagon, and didn't want to get out. I tried to get some cute pics of us in the pumpkin patch, but Ethan wasn't cooperating, and was just throwing a fit to get back in the wagon. But we found a pumpkin that was just Ethan's size.
It was great spending time on the farm. It made me really miss living in the country! I think the picture of Rory and Ethan is the best one of them all. They had this old swing, and of course Ethan couldn't balance on it, and wanted off, but it was still super cute.

Our weekend
I just thought I'd post a couple pictures from this weekend. Here's Ethan and Daddy. Rory had given Ethan a chocolate ice cream sandwich. Yummm. Ethan enjoyed it and bunch, and we got a good laugh afterwards with the mess he made on his face!
Lastly, (this is the same night) Rory was running around playing with Ethan, and went to hide in our bathroom. When Ethan went running to get daddy, he ran right into the corner of the door; leaving a nice little goose egg on his head. This picture doesn't show it that well, but it's the only on we got. It's on his forehead. The next day there was just a bruise line. Poor boy! (or should I say typical boy?)
Later that evening Rory gave Ethan a bath while I cooked dinner. After Ethan got out and was dressed, he went back into the bathroom, and got back in the tub. FULLY CLOTHED!! Actually, I think he was reaching in for a toy and fell in, but if he fell, wouldn't his hair be wet?? It's a mystery to me. Next time we'll have to remember to drain the water!!!!

Finally he went to sleep, wore out from the sugar, cold water, and bump on the head. Finally at peace, and no other risk of injury. lol

Bathtime
Okay, every mom has naked pictures of her babies, because we think that our kid is just too adorable. I am no exception to this. So of course I just had to post a couple pictures of Ethan that I took recently while he was in the bath tub. He's really funny now with taking a bath. He never wants to get in, but once he's in, he's pretty happy there.
